Physical therapy is a holistic approach to enhancing the health of an individual by optimizing function or preventing, diagnosing, and therapeutically managing movement disorders. Our therapists are trained to assess the underlying causes of joint, muscle, and nerve disorders, educate patients about managing their condition, and advise ways to prevent pain and injury.
SSPT's goal is to enhance your quality of life through improved health and fitness. To that end, we encourage you to be proactive and take charge of your health by teaching you techniques for recovery, pain relief, injury prevention, and improved physical movement.
To improve physical function, we predominantly use a combination of techniques to treat the interaction between your physical movement and your musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments). Your physical therapy will be specifically designed to restore your range of motion, improve strength, and reduce pain. Depending on your specific problem, we may also incorporate techniques to focus on body awareness, balance, coordination, and agility.
Your physical therapy can include a wide range of drug-free techniques to relieve pain, restore function and movement, and prevent further problems, including:
“After sustaining an injury in combat in Iraq, I spent 18 months in rehabilitation and physical therapy elsewhere. In addition to my physical pain, I was also suffering from the emotional strain that a chronic injury invariably causes.
When I switched to Sports and Spinal Physical Therapy, my therapist stressed that I would be taking a very active part in my recovery. Over the next 9 months, I learned techniques to strengthen my core and retrain my body. None of these sessions were easy, but it was during this time that I made the most progress in my recovery. For these life lessons and my improved physical condition, I would like to thank the wonderful staff at SSPT.“
