Baseball Injury Prevention

Almost 500,000 baseball-related injuries are treated each year. Although the area most frequently treated is the pitching arm, baseball players experience a variety of injuries. Baseball players' injuries are most often caused by overuse, repetitive throwing with a loose shoulder, falling on an outstretched arm, poor body mechanics, and muscular imbalance and tightness. Little league players are particularly susceptible to injury—an estimated 58 percent of baseball players age 11 to 18 experience elbow injuries during or after organized games.1

SSPT provides baseball clinics for both adult and youth baseball players. These clinics highlight the key factors that cause injury in baseball players and outline actions that players can take to reduce their risk of injury.

Our baseball clinics address topics that include:

  • Most common baseball injuries and their causes
  • Throwing biomechanics
  • Preventative measures for reducing injury risk
  • Strategies for facilitating a return to activity following injury
  • Pitching recommendations
  • Training and conditioning tips

SSPT's baseball clinics are tailored to the specific needs of attendees and strive to help attendees prevent injuries and improve performance.
